The Wilkowski for Mayor campaign knocked on doors to talk with Toledo residents

 Keith Wilkowski was joined by his campaign volunteers as they went door-to-door this past Saturday, June 20 in Ward 21. Their goal was to talk with as many Toledo residents as possible about Wilkowski’s plan to bring jobs to Toledo.

“I am convinced that the key to winning this campaign is talking to voters one-on-one and sharing my ideas for bringing good jobs to Toledo,” said Wilkowski.

Democratic Mayoral Candidate Keith Wilkowski Pledges Action on Issues of Concern to Women

 “Women for Wilkowski ” Also Holds First Meeting

On Wed. June 10th, Democratic Mayoral Candidate Keith Wilkowski was joined by women from many walks of life as he announced his plan to appoint a Commission on Women’s Issues to focus on issues of concern to women and girls. The Commission will advise the Mayor, Council and city officials, and collaborate with a wide range of governmental and private sector organizations to promote the health and economic advancement of women in our community.

 The press conference at the MMK Gallery, 20 N. St. Clair , was followed by the first meeting of “Women for Wilkowski”, a group of women who will advise the candidate on a range of women’s issues during the campaign.  The diverse group of women includes community leaders, mothers, young professionals and community advocates.

“Women face unique challenges ranging from fair employment practices to domestic violence and poverty”, said Wilkowski. “Toledo is fortunate to have many strong, women leaders who are already tackling these issues head on.  I’m pleased to have their counsel and advice.  A Wilkowski administration will be fully committed to addressing concerns of women and girls, and ensuring that women play key roles at all decision making levels of city government.”

Margaret Lockhart -  an attorney and partner at the Cooper Walinski law firm
Torri Blanchard -  a young professional who recently graduated from Urbana University
Gabrielle Davis – University of Toledo Law professor and Director of the Law Clinic
Kristen Langenderfer – a mom and neighborhood advocate

$50,000 Sought for Energy-Savings Study

joe-mike-and-keith-at-june-3-2009-press-conferenceKeith Wilkowski was joined by City Council members Mike Craig and Joe McNamara on June 3, 2009, to announce the details of a new resolution calling for the Finkbeiner administration to allocate $50,000 to plan a city-wide residential energy efficiency program. Other City Council members Lindsay Webb and Phil Copeland also support the proposal, but were unable to attend the press conference.

Keith Announces Plan to Create Green Jobs

keith-making-announcementToledo Democratic mayoral candidate Keith Wilkowski announced, today, his plan to create good-paying, green jobs and start Toledo’s economy moving again. The Wilkowski Energy Efficiency Plan  provides  all Toledo homeowners the opportunity to upgrade their homes, use less energy and save money on their utility bills.

Leaders and members from Locals 500, 50 and 45 were on hand to support  the plan that will manifest thousands of jobs in the pipefitters, electrical and insulation trades.

“We have 130,000 housing units in Toledo; and, if just two-thirds of the property owners participate in this voluntary program, we will create thousands of jobs for workers in the building and electrical trades,” said Wilkowski.

Keith wins WTOL Poll

Keith participated in an online Town Hall meeting with the other major mayoral candidates on Thursday, May 27.  The event was hosted by WTOL, channel 11 and the Toledo Blade. Keith shared his message of bringing good jobs to Toledo, fixing city government and ensuring our neighborhoods are safe with strong police protection in the hour-long forum.

Keith Wilkowski receives NOBMA Award

Keith Wilkowski accepts the Northwest Ohio Black Media Association’s Annual Impact Newsmaker Award on behalf of Toledoans for Obama from MC Skyler Meadows on May 21.

 

“I am honored to have led Toledoans for Obama,” said Wilkowski at the awards dinner.


“Barack Obama’s campaign awakened in us a feeling that we could be part of something greater than ourselves; that acting together, we could bring real change to our community and our nation.

 

Our group’s early support for then Senator Obama here in Ohio - the most important battleground state in our country - surely played a key role in electing him as our new President.”
